Bakgrund
I am a Senior Lecturer in Archive and Information Science, based in the Department of Communication, Quality Management, and Information Systems in Sundsvall. My academic background includes a bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science, a master's degree in European Digital Media and Cultural Heritage Studies, a PhD in Information Science defended in 2019, and a master's by research degree in Media and Communication Science at MIUN in 2024.
Forskningsområden
My research endeavors delve into the intricate realms of digital representation, conceptual models, and metadata, with a particular focus on their application within the domains of cultural heritage and digital humanities. Attention has been given to international initiatives, including Europeana and the Europeana Data Model (EDM), the CIDOC CRM (Conceptual Reference Model) Interest Group and ICOM (International Council of Museums), and the RiC (Records in Contexts) model of the International Council on Archives (ICA).
I am driven by a passion to unravel the complexities of how technology interfaces with society, exploring its transformative potential within data, information, and knowledge representation, aiming access, discovery, re-use and long-term preservation.
With a foundation in social constructionism, my scholarly pursuits extend into the dynamic intersection of Information Science and Media and Communication Science, where Strategic Communication is addressed to cultural organizations in a co-creational approach to meaning-making and transformative communicative practices. Critical themes such as decolonization and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) are brought up for debate.
My current research centers on Indigenous data governance and sovereignty, exploring ethical frameworks, legal structures, and technological mechanisms that empower Indigenous communities to maintain control, self-determination, and decision-making authority over their cultural, intellectual, and biocultural data. It emphasizes the CARE Principles (Collective Benefit, Authority to Control, Responsibility, and Ethics) and the use of Local Contexts Labels to ensure culturally appropriate data management. A participatory approach is integral, co-creating practices that align with the values, priorities, and knowledge systems of Indigenous peoples.
