I am originally from Denmark, but I am half Bulgarian and half Iranian, and I am more or less fluent in 7 languages. In 2017, I moved to Sweden to pursue my master's education, and since then, I have lived in various parts of Sweden. In late 2021, I embarked on my doctoral journey at Mittuniversitetet in entrepreneurship, and in April 2023, I was nominated as the chairman of the national doctoral association. Most of my work experience comes from project work, business consulting, and private tutoring in various subjects. I am based in Östersund, a beautiful city that offers fantastic opportunities for a passionate photographer like me. Besides my photography, I spend time with my family and friends.
Describe your research.
My research focuses on investigating the effects of digitalization on trust within business relationships and collaborative interactions such as "co-opetition" and business model innovation. With the increasing digitalization, the frequency and density of these interactions have significantly increased. Technological communication platforms have played a crucial role in this transformation and have had long-term consequences, especially for trust.
While digital technologies have been invaluable in maintaining and enhancing existing business relationships, they can limit opportunities for relationship building and business model innovation. The lack of physical meetings and presence can hinder the development of trust in the initial stages of collaboration.
Nevertheless, trust remains a fundamental factor for effective operations, even in a changing business environment brought about by digitalization. Aware of this significance, my research aims to explore the consequences of digitalization on trust. By exploring the implications and dynamics of trust within the context of digitalization, I strive to shed light on how companies can navigate and foster trust in an increasingly digitalized world.
Why did you become interested in this field?
My interest in pursuing a doctoral degree grew during my master's education, where I conducted my thesis on authentic leadership and its roll in emotional commitment and organizational culture. Through this research experience, I discovered the importance of authentic leadership and the potential to contribute to knowledge development in the field. It strengthened my conviction to continue my academic journey and conduct research that can make a real difference in the workplace.
My passion for entrepreneurship and collaboration was sparked by the effects of digitalization on trust in business relationships. As I witnessed the growth of collaborative interactions and the establishment of technological communication platforms, I became fascinated by the potential and challenges in this digital landscape. Realizing that trust, a crucial factor for successful business relationships, was being reshaped during the digital era further intensified my interest. The complexity of building trust without traditional face-to-face interactions piqued my curiosity. Recognizing trust as a foundational pillar for organizational growth and success, I felt intrigued to understand its dynamics within the context of digitalization. Unveiling the consequences of cultivating trust in this ever-changing digital world became a driving force behind my research work.
Why is your research needed?
My research fills an important knowledge gap and offers practical insights for organizations striving for success in the digital era as it examines the effects of digitalization on trust within business relationships and collaborative interactions. The increasing frequency and density of these interactions facilitated by technological communication platforms have long-term implications for trust. Despite the benefits of digital technologies, building trust in the early stages of collaboration without physical meetings can be challenging. By exploring the dynamics of trust in the digital context, my research highlights how companies can navigate and foster trust in an increasingly digitized world.
How do you divide your time between research and teaching?
As a researcher and teacher, it is important for me to balance my time between research and teaching effectively. Currently, a significant part of my teaching involves managerial accounting for human resource management students, and I balance my time by prioritizing, planning, and being flexible. My goal is to be present and engaged in both research and teaching to deliver the best possible contribution and quality in both areas.
Dream scenario in terms of work?
In my dream scenario as a doctoral student, I aspire to become a distinguished researcher in my field and work towards the goal of becoming a professor. I want to conduct ground-breaking research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge and has a real impact on society. I envision myself leading my own research projects and being a leading scholar in my specialized area. I strive to publish my research findings in prominent international journals and be invited to speak at prestigious conferences. Beyond conducting research, I am also eager to become an inspiring and dedicated teacher. Having the opportunity to teach and mentor students is something I look forward to as it gives me a chance to share my knowledge and shape the next generation of researchers.
