Tell us - who is Carl Westergren?
I qm 32-years-old and from Gävle. I ended up in Sundsvall due to studies. I worked as an economic assistant at Permobil in Timrå before I got a part-time position at MIUN as a lecturer, now a full-time doctoral candidate in business administration. I am a hockey enthusiast and a hobby artist who consumes tremendous amounts of coffee.
Describe your research.
I research regional strategic networks and the various factors that influence their success: obstacles and enablers. In an increasingly globalized and digitized world, competition from external sources is growing, and close interorganizational collaboration is becoming more important to sustain competitiveness for smaller regions like Västernorrland.
How do you divide your time between research and teaching?
I do 80% research and lecture/events 20%. The first 80 percent is spent reading tremendous amounts of articles, writing texts, and participating in various doctoral courses. The latter 20 percent is mostly spent organizing different events, such as open houses for high school students and various meetings between business and students, but I also lecture on courses in business administration.
Dream scenario in terms of work?
First and foremost, to obtain a doctoral degree so that I can encourage everyone around me to refer to me as "Doctor," it sounds good. Then, of course, to continue working within academia in some way; it's both enjoyable, challenging, and diverse.
