Åsa Yderfäldt
Åsa Yderfält is a licentiate in business administration and works at CER - Center for Research on Economic Relationships. Her research has a strong focus on collaborations between and within companies.
What is your research about?
Collaborations between and within companies. Previously, I worked in the graphic industry and now in my doctoral studies in the construction and real estate industry, where I investigate how concepts such as trust, information exchange, and organizational learning affect actor exchange within the collaboration model called partnering. This data collection has also, so far, resulted in a side article on innovative business models, funded by the Richertska Foundation.
What sparked your interest in this field?
It was my previous work environment, where I simultaneously worked at the DPC-Digital Printing Center at Mid Sweden University, at the industrial research institute STFI-Packforsk, and also spent time for my own research through a scholarship from the Kempe Foundation. So, I was involved and surrounded by research colleagues, which made the transition to wanting to do research myself on a more than part-time basis relatively short.
How do you find being a doctoral student at Mid Sweden University?
It's varied. In the field of business administration at Mid Sweden University, the number of doctoral students is relatively small, which can be both good and bad. At the same time, there is a temporal freedom that appeals to many, the freedom with responsibility to produce. The consequence is that "normal" working hours of eight hours a day, weekends, or vacations don't really apply to doctoral students.
What has been the most enjoyable experience so far?
Writing together with others and meeting researchers and doctoral students with similar research interests in different forums, locally, nationally, and internationally.
What would be your dream scenario in terms of your work?
I should probably say well-cited articles in high-ranked journals, but it is also important to me that the research results benefit the industries in various ways. Another pleasant thought would be to receive a yearly salary to use for research time in any desired direction. Dreaming is always allowed.
