Tell us about Habib Kachlami.
I have an engineering background, but after a few years in the profession, I decided to study entrepreneurship and innovation and wrote my dissertation on social entrepreneurship. Besides work, I am also interested in philosophy, art, politics, and football.
Describe your research.
I particularly focus on social initiatives from a macro perspective. This means examining how social initiatives contribute to improved economic conditions, such as creating more employment opportunities and addressing social and economic vulnerability and exclusion, along with the associated challenges.
What sparked your interest in this field?
I find social entrepreneurship interesting because it applies entrepreneurial spirit and skills to address social problems. Personally, I believe that social entrepreneurship can be a solution to many of the inequalities and injustices of our time.
Why is your research needed?
Social initiatives have often been studied for their social benefits, usually from a micro perspective and as case studies. However, their economic benefits have rarely been discussed. In my research, I examine the economic benefits of social initiatives from a macro perspective, such as their impact on the labour market.
How do you allocate your time between research and teaching?
As a lecturer, I am heavily involved in teaching, but I try to make time for my research, albeit currently in a limited capacity.
Dream scenario in terms of the job?
I would wish for a better balance between the time I dedicate to research and teaching.
