Immersive Simulation: A Resource for Increased Crisis Management Capacity

From global pandemics to war in Europe, the risk and crisis management field has been brought to the fore. It has perhaps never been as pertinent as now, to be prepared for uncertain futures. However, there is a need for efficient tools and methods to educate and train personnel in risk awareness and crisis management, and to bring knowledge to life in different ways.

In RCR Simulation Lab we can simulate things which are too dangerous, too expensive, too far away in time and space. Businesses, government agencies and schools can thereby train personnel effectively, leading to a greater capacity for handling crises. This collaboration can also strengthen and develop the lab environment paving the way for new opportunities and ways of using simulation on campus.

Within the project we will develop promotional material visualizing the opportunities for simulation, role play and self-reflection in RCR Simulation Lab (via video recordings).

With sense-making of risk and crisis management as departure points, the goal is for up to four business from different sectors, two government agencies and one school in Jämtland to start using RCR Simulation for education and training. The expected result is that they will be better prepared for different crises and that RCR Simulation Lab has identified and developed new use-cases.

This is a project in collaboration with Östersunds municipality in accordance with the collaboration agreement.
