Emotion experiences in different languages

How do we perceive emotions in others and ourselves in different languages? And how does this affect our relationships, decision-making, and the way we manage our emotions?

Our research project explores how emotions are perceived and managed in different languages. Previous research has shown that the language we use can influence how we experience and express our emotions. For bilingual and multilingual individuals, emotional experience may vary depending on whether they are speaking their first or second language. In some cases, individuals tend to experience a stronger emotional response when speaking their first language, while a second language can influence how emotional information is processed and decisions are made.

In our project, we examine these phenomena by analyzing how people perceive emotions in others' emotional expressions, such as through facial expressions or voice, as well as how they express and process their own emotions in different languages. We investigate how these differences affect social interactions, decision-making, and emotional regulation in various contexts.

By analyzing these processes, we aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of how language use can affect emotional communication and interactions, especially in multilingual and multicultural environments.
