Course Package: Environmental and Climate Research, 30 hp

The course package consists of the following courses:


Project Course, 15 credits: 

How can technological systems be changed to promote reduced flows of energy and matter, and thereby reduced environmental impact and resource depletion? Different tools for this are analysed and critically discussed. Assignments on environmental systems analysis are carried out.


Climate Change, Impact and Action Strategies, 7.5 credits: 

The course deals with anthropogenic climate change, the causal connections and possible strategies to address the issue in an international perspective.


Energy and Material Flows in the Built Environment, 7.5 credits: 

The course provides insights on energy and material flows in the built environment. Energy flow analysis include energy use in life cycle of a building. Material flow aspects cover the environmental implications of framing materials (e.g. wood, concrete) used in production of buildings. The course give insights on importance of thinking from a system perspective to reduce energy use in buildings.

Entry requirements

Degree of Bachelor of at least 180 credits (180 ECTS) or equivalent, with at least 45 Credits (45 ECTS) in Environmental Science or Environmental Technology/Engineering. English course 6 from Swedish Upper Secondary School (Gymnasium) or the equivalent.
