Ecosystem Services and Ecological Engineering, 30 Credits

The course package consists of the following courses:

Ecosystem Services, 15 credits

This course deals with Ecosystem Services. It introduces the UN Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity report and other international efforts to describe, understand, implement and utilize the concept of Ecosystem Services.

Ecological Engineering - Introductory Course, 7.5 credits

The course introduces the field of ecological engineering, and its strong connection to ecological modeling and systems ecology. Basic principles around this are introduced both theoretically and practically.

Systems ecology – Nature and Society, 7.5 credits

The aim of the course is to introduce the branch of systems ecology that has been developed based on the energy hierarchy concept.
