Aim
The student shall execute a design project within a specific context with certain limitations by selecting and applying an appropriate design process.
Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the student should be able to:
- execute a design project through the selection and use of multiple relevant design methods.
- give suggestions on how a product, service, or environment can be developed by applying design methods
- design a well-reasoned proposal
- present the proposal
- reflect on the proposal's relevance to target group and society
- write a scientific report on the design project
Content
The course includes in-depth studies:
- of how the design process can be formed to create relevant proposals
- of design methods that can be part of a design process
- on methods for assessing the relevance of the design proposals to the target group and society
- about documenting and writing a scientific report about a design project
Entry requirements
At least 60 credits (ECTS) in Industrial Design or equivalent.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The teaching consists of seminars and workshops.
The student is supervised by a supervisor who is active at the department or by an external supervisor who works as a professional industrial designer.
Active participation in all parts of the project, some of which may be carried out in groups.
Examination form
D100: Design Project and oral presentation, 6 Credits
Grade scale: Three-grade scale
R100: Written report, 1.5 Credits
Grade scale: Two-grade scale
