Aim
The aim of the course is to deepen the student's knowledge about major theories, experimental methods and tools relevant to the thesis project.
Course objectives
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
• independently carry out an in-depth literature study
• analyze and assess different theories and / or experimental methods relevant for the chosen scientific project area
• account for, motivate and argue for the choice of theory or experimental method and setup
• solve the formulated scientific problems
• demonstrate the ability to identify the need for further knowledge acquisition
Content
The course encompasses in-depth and project-specific elements that include all or part of the following: theories, models, experimental methods, tools and instrumentation.
The content is defined according to the extent and depth of an individual course plan established by the supervisor.

Mechanical Engineering MA, Thesis Project I, 15 credits.
Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The course is started by the supervisor preparing an individual course plan that is project-specific and which in addition to the content defines the form of teaching and course literature. The course consists mainly of independent self-studies. Work per student is approximately 400 hours.
