Aim
The course offers an introduction to Political Science concerning the theoretical core of the subject and the forms of international political decision making.
Course objectives
After completion of the course the student is expected to:
- have basic knowledge about the fundamental theories of international politics,
- be able to orientate her/himself about the basic epmpirical findings and research
within the field of international politics,
- be able to make an independent analysis of the contemporary development of
international politics, based on assismilated knowledge of theories and empirical
findings in the field.
Content
The course is focused on the structure of the international political system; its participants, instruments and arenas of action. The course futher introduces dominating theories in the field.
Entry requirements
There are no specific entry qualifications for this course apart from general university entrance qualifications. However, priority will be given to those candidates who have at least one academic year or the equivalent in higher education studies.

Selection rules and procedures
The selection process is in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance and the local order of admission.
Teaching form
The course consists of lectures, seminars and assignments.
Examination form
Examination can take place either as a written examination, oral examination, thesis or as PM assignments.

Grading system
Seven-grade scale, A, B, C, D, E, Fx and F. Fx and F represent fail levels.
Other information
A student who fails an examination has the right to retake it in order to obtain a pass mark or a pass mark with distinction.
A student who fails the examination on two occasions has the right to apply for a new examination with another teacher.
Those students who pass the course are not eligible to retake examination in order to achieve higher grades.
