Background

I defended my doctoral thesis, On the Relationship between Sustainable Health and Quality Management - Leadership and organizational behaviours from Swedish organizations, in 2009. I became associate professor in 2014 and professor in 2018.

Before my academic career at Mid Sweden University, I worked at an accounting firm as an auditor and later at Ericsson as an economist, team leader and project manager.

Area of interest

As a researcher, I am interested in how leaders and organizations can work to create satisfied customers, wellbeing/prosperous employees and profitability. That is, which approaches, behaviours and methods are the key elements for success in these areas? My focus is on the relationship between quality management and sustainable health. Other research areas that I am interested in and work with is the Quality Culture, Lean, processes, Strength-based Leadership and Appreciative Inquiry.

Research

Since 2015, I am involved in the research project "Simply Lean", a project funded by the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen) with the purpose to explore how quality can be improved in Swedish companies by developing an internal coaching model to support value-based leadership. A leadership that will integrate values, organizational culture, customer needs and sustainable development. This three-year project is a collaboration between three Swedish manufacturing companies and Mid Sweden University.

I am also involved in a project that aims at measuring and improving quality culture at the organizational level. It is a collaboration between SIQ (Swedish Institute for Quality Development), the research network SQMA (Swedish Quality Management Academy) and seven organizations from the public and private sectors.

From 2018 to 2020 I am the project leader for the project Quality and Effectiveness in Health Processes (Ökad kvalitet och effektivitet i vårdkedjor),financed by The Kamprad Family Foundation. The purpose of the project is to to create new knowledge about how efficiency and quality in the healthcare care chain can be improved with focus on leadership, care continuity, security culture and learning.

Teaching and tutoring

I teach in our master's program Quality and Leadership Development, where I also tutor students in their writing of final papers for their exam.

Other information

I am the chairperson of the Council of Teaching at Undergraduate and Graduate Level (GRUR) within the Faculty of Science, Technology and Media (NMT). I was also involved in the project MIUN 2025 which discussed Mid Sweden University’s future development, as a part of one of five contrast pairs.
