Coen van Bendegom

Doktorand|Doctoral Student

Background

After my bachelor's in Sports Management and a specialization in outdoor recreation and adventure sports, I enjoyed working in outdoor recreation as a guide/instructor for a couple of years. I continued my academic journey with a master's in Leisure Studies. After completion, I joined Breda University of Applied Sciences where I worked as a junior researcher in the Experience Lab and as lecturer teaching tourism courses and academic research courses including statistics.

I enjoyed the four years at BUas, but I went for a different challenge. I fulfilled a dream by traveling by camper van for almost 500 days on the Pan-American Highway from Mexico to Uruguay. In 2023/2024, I got a teaching position at Vancouver Island University in Canada. On June 1st 2024, I started at MIUN as a PhD Candidate in visitor management in nature-based tourism and recreation as a part of the Marie-Curie funded project VIMAS.
