PhD student in Electronics focus on Embedded AI‑based IoT Systems

Department of Computer and Electrical Engineering

At the department, education is conducted in the subjects of computer engineering, electronics, electrical engineering and sound production. The research at the department takes place at the research center Sensible Things that Communicate (www.miun.se/stc) and deals with sensor-based systems and services for use within the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

The research group AI-based IoT and Measurement Systems (AIM) at STC develops AI-driven methods that enhance measurement systems through indirect and resource-efficient sensing for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and environmental analysis. The group also investigates how AI algorithms can be integrated directly into IoT nodes, with a particular focus on cost efficiency, low energy consumption, and robust operation in real-world applications.

Job description
The position involves full-time doctoral studies in the field of AIoT, focusing on integrating sensor fusion and machine learning on IoT nodes. The research aims to develop intelligent and resource-efficient solutions for condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and adaptive control in distributed systems. The work combines theoretical modeling and experimental studies and includes development, implementation, and verification of AI algorithms close to the sensors. The project is carried out in close collaboration with national and international partners from both industry and academia.
